Peter Barrett has been painting for more than fifteen years. As the son of a commercial artist and accomplished artist in his own right, Peter was inspired by his wife, Nancy, to study art following his Father’s passing in 1993. Studying under the mentorship of local artist Elizabeth Sennett, Peter has focused primarily on seascapes and water birds. His affinity for this comes from his youth around and near the water and his experiences as an Officer in the U. S. Coast Guard.
The paintings and giclee reproductions on this site are representative of Peter’s work. Many of the reproductions are available in various sizes. All of the work is in oil as it is the preferred medium to express his painting style.
Peter is a member of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society, East Hampton Art Association and Lyme Art Association, and the American Society of Marine Artists.
