Course Description
Course #1 in the 4-part "Project Management Basics" series is for people with no formal training in project management. It explains project management and leadership, how it differs from other business disciplines, and why it is crucial in today's delayed, re-engineered matrix organizations. The course begins with universal concepts such as project life cycle and project triangle: cost, schedule and quality. It moves on to teach 28 basic terms and definitions so you can "speak" a commonly shared language of project management. Course #1 also identifies traits and actions of successful project leaders for on-time, in-budget project completion. The exercises and assignments illustrate learning points and offer effective practice and feedback. The course includes reference documents to help you complete each assignment, which then become "take-aways" for on the job application. Finally, a post-test assesses your mastery of the material.
